World Series of Fighting put on yet another fantastic show with a main card that produced a number of exceptional fights, and that turned out to be a solid way to spend a Saturday night. Overall, four betting favorites cashed out while one dog came through, albeit controversially. Gaethje is a super prospect and needed just over a minute to handle the tough Patishnock to win the belt. Gaethje closed as a massive -900 favorite (bet $900 to win $100), while Patishnock closed as a +700 dog (bet $100 to win $700) In the co-main event of the evening, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson defeated Mike Kyle via one-punch KO. It was a vicious knockout by Johnson, who hit Kyle behind the ear so hard that “MAK” fell face first into the mat. It was Johnson’s sixth win in a row, and it was the last fight on his WSOF contract. Look for a bidding war between the UFC and WSOF to erupt over Johnson, who won as a -430 favorite. Meanwhile, Kyle lost as a +380 dog. In a women’s strawweight title fight, Jessica Aguilar defeated Alida Gray via first-round submission (arm-triangle choke) to become the first-ever WSOF women’s strawweight champion. Aguilar got the takedown early and was able to soon pass Gray’s guard and sink in the fight-ending choke. Aguilar closed as a -310 favorite, while Gray lost as a +280 dog. In a lightweight bout, Luis Palomino defeated Jorge Patino via second-round TKO (punches). Despite being taken down and controlled in the early goings by Patino, Palomino weathered the story and was able to land a series of brutal strikes on the feet to hurt Patino in round one, and then in round two he unloaded even more strikes and finished off the job with some nice ground and pound. A big win for Palomino, who won as a -110 favorite, while Patino lost as a +100 dog. WSOF 8 Betting Underdogs That Won In a bantamweight bout, Cody Bollinger defeated Tyson Nam via unanimous decision in a super-close fight that came down to the judges favoring Bollinger’s volume to Nam’s effectiveness with the strikes he threw. It’s hard to call it a robbery for Bollinger, but the majority of observers though that Nam did enough to win. Regardless, Bollinger cashed out as a +123 dog, while Nam lost as a -133 favorite.
