MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 35 featherweight Sam Sicilia as he prepares for his main event bout this Wednesday night (Jan. 15, 2013) against Cole Miller at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia.
The SikJitsu fighter was on the verge of getting his walking papers for good before some Dana White intervention, and despite winning his last fight, he knows he has to win this bout against Cole Miller to prove he belongs: “Dana [White] told me I wasn’t going nowhere, but I had to win my next fight. I went down to Brazil, had to make the boss guy look brilliant and knocked my opponent out in the first round to prove I belonged. Now I’ve got Cole [Miller], a guy who’s always been there, always done enough to be in the UFC, but he’s never made a title run. He’s a guy I have to beat. He beat good guys like Ross Pearson, but he’s also lost to guys like Jeremy Stephens, so he’s a guy I have to get past to get where I want to go.”
