UFC on FUEL TV 4: Wednesday, July 11, 2012 HP Pavilion in San Jose, California UFC Lightweight Contender Rafael dos Anjos (-150) Profile: A deadly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Rafeal dos Anjos (16-6), has taken his training to Singapore’s Evolve MMA after mixed results in the UFC’s Octagon. At one time, he was known as a “one trick pony” with a strong BJJ background, but he has since evolved his game, backed up by his brutal KO of fellow BJJ practitioner George Sotiropoulos at UFC 139. The 27-year-old Brazilian has split his last two fights, rebounding from a split-decision loss to Gleison Tibau at UFC 139 with a fantastic rear-naked choke submission victory over WEC vet Kamal Shalorus at UFC on FUEL TV: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier. Dos Anjos will look to string two wins together for the first time since 2010 when he takes on fellow lightweight contender Anthony Njokuani at UFC on FUEL TV: Munoz vs. Weidman. UFC Lightweight Contender Anthony Njokuani (+120) Profile:Anthony Njokuani (15-6-1) has given us plenty of highlights over the years. But since entering the UFC, the always-exciting 32-year-old Nigerian fighter has gone just 2-2 with a 3-4 mark in his past seven going back to his days in the WEC. Maybe it’s the competition finally understanding his flashy style, or perhaps it’s Njokuani leaving his comfort zone and finding himself willing to grapple, but something is not working out for the lanky Muay Thai behemoth. He likes to use his incredible reach advantage to keep his opponents at bay, and has knockout power in every limb. Dangerous when standing, Njokuani usually finds himself in a world of trouble if his opponent can bring him down to the ground. Opening UFC on FUEL TV Odds Analysis: MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas made dos Anjos a small -150 favorite (bet $150 to win $100) while Njokuani opened as a +120 underdog (bet $100 to win $120) according to the MMA odds. Dos Anjos has worked hard to develop a well-rounded game, and he showed what he can do with his submission win against Shalorus back in May. Njokuani is also coming off a victory, but he has not been able to put together consecutive wins in three years. Njokuani has seen nearly half of his wins come as a result of decisions, so he will look to score points and outwork dos Anjos. However, dos Anjos has been able to stop four of his past five opponents and may try to be the aggressor early on in hopes of ending the fight that way yet again.
