Invicta FC 7 took place on Saturday night and it turned out to be a very solid event overall, with a number of very exciting women’s MMA matches on the docket. Overall, four favorites won while four underdogs cashed. Here’s a betting recap for the event based on the closing MMA odds: INVICTA FC 7 BETTING FAVORITES THAT WON In a strawweight bout, Tecia Torres defeated Felice Herrig via unanimous decision. Torres showed she has all the making of a future champion with an absolutely sensational performance to score as a -140 favorite (bet $140 to win $100), while Herrig lost at +100 (bet $100 to win $100). In a strawweight matchup, Joanne Calderwood outlasted Katja Kankaapaa to win a unanimous decision. The Scot showed tremendous striking and good takedown defence to take the victory. Calderwood scored as a -420 favorite, while “The Killer Bunny” lost as a +300 dog. In a featherweight fight, Julia Budd defeated Charmaine Tweet via unanimous decision. Tweet did nothing at all and lost as a +250 dog, while Budd scored as a -350 fav via her dominant wrestling and may get the next title shot at Invcita FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. In a flyweight bout, Nina Ansaroff took out Munah Holland via second-round TKO (punches). Ansaroff looked like a beast and cashed at -185 with the knockout win, while Holland fell at +145. INVICTA FC 7 BETTING UNDERDOGS THAT WON In the main event of the evening, Barb Honchak defended the Invicta FC flyweight title against Leslie Smith, pouring it on with her striking and wrestling over the course of five rounds to take a unanimous decision win. Honchak won as a +150 champion dog, while Smith lost at -190. In the co-main event of the evening, Lauren Taylor defeated Miriam Nakamoto via fourth-round TKO (injury) after Nakamoto blew out her knee to become the first-ever Invicta FC women’s bantamweight champion. Murphy won as a +150 dog, while Nakamoto fell as a -190 fav. Look for Murphy to get a call to the UFC in the near future. In a flyweight bout, Vanessa Porto defeated Zoila Gurgel via unanimous decision. Porto looked great in the second and third rounds to win as a +170 dog, while Gurgel fell at -230. Gurgel looks to be great fade material going forward, as she is a big name but not a great fighter by any means. In a bantamweight fight, Tonya Evinger took out Sarah D’Alelio via unanimous decision. Evinger took the last two rounds with her wrestling to win as a +195 dog, while D’Alelio lost as a -295 fav. The key to this fight proved to be the fact D’Alelio took it on short notice, as she just didn’t have the gas to go all three round strong.
