MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 108 featherweight Justin Wilcox as he prepares for his tournament final bout tonight (Nov. 15, 2013) against Patricio “Pitbull” Freire at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The American Kickboxing Academy standout played it a bit safe in his semifinal bout, winning a pretty one-sided unanimous decision to ear the right to face Freire, but he wants everyone to know that he’ll be going all out tonight now that he doesn’t have to save himself for future tournament fights.
“Being a wrestler, I understand bracket sheets. We’ve got to make it to the finals and I understand what it takes to make it to the finals. Yeah, I held Joe down and he was damaging from the bottom but he couldn’t get up so why would I let him up when I’m looking to win and get in the finals? I got a little flack for that but I just thought I’d use my wrestling to dominate and take the least damage possible. Now that I’m in the finals, I can let it all go and people can really see what the Silverback’s about.”
