Bellator 103 took place tonight in Mulvane, KS, and the four-fight main card produced a few exciting moments that made the event overall worth watching, but it definitely wasn’t the best Bellator card of the season. Overall, all four betting favorites came through while zero underdogs cashed. Here’s a betting recap for Bellator 103 based on the closing results at Several Bookmakers: Bellator 103 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Patricio “Pitbull” Freire defeated Fabricio Guerreiro via unanimous decision to advance to the finals of the Bellator season nine featherweight tournament. He also became the first fighter in Bellator history to make it to the finals of three tournaments. Sure, it wasn’t Freire’s best performance and he didn’t get the knockout finish that many expected of him, but he fought smart against a bigger opponent and showed that he is just as good of a grappler that he is a striker. “Pitbull” closed as a huge -840 favorite (bet $840 to win $100), while Guerreiro lost as a +660 underdog (bet $100 to win $660). In the other featherweight tournament semifinal, Justin Wilcox defeated Joe Taimanglo via unanimous decision to advance to the finals opposite “Pitbull.” Wilcox used his superior size to control Taimanglo on the ground over the course of the three rounds, although Taimanglo was getting the better of him on the feet. Wilcox closed as a -460 favorite, while Taimanglo lost as a +365 dog. Look for Wilcox, however, to enter the fight against “Pitbull” as a major underdog due to his disadvantage in the striking department. In a lightweight bout, David Rickels TKOed JJ Ambrose in the third round in what was a homecoming for the Kansas native. Rickels, who came out to the cage in his Fred Flintstone car, proved once again he is one of the most underrated lightweights in Bellator by beating up Ambrose, who was coming into this fight with some momentum. Rickels cased as a -450 favorite, while Ambrose lost as a +400 dog. In a light heavyweight bout, Mikhail Zayats submitted UFC veteran Aaron Rosa with a Kimura in the first minute of the fight. Zayats essentially big brothered Rosa in this one, as he easily landed a takedown early on and then passed to the position to get the Kimura with ease. With the victory, look for Zayats to appear in the next Bellator light heavyweight tournament. Zayats closed at -350, while Rosa lost at +318.
