European MMA 6 Date: September 26, 2013 Arena: Brøndbyhallen City: Brondby, Hovedstaden, Denmark Welterweight bout: Andreas Stahl (-505) vs Veselin Dimitrov (+335) Fight Breakdown: European MMA 6 in Denmark features a welterweight match-up between two wrestlers as Sweden’s Andreas Stahl takes on the Bulgarian Veselin Dimitrov. Stahl is currently a very big favorite in this contest at -505 ($505 to win $100), while the kickback on the underdog Dimitrov is +335 ($100 to win $335) at Several Bookmakerss. VESELIN DIMITROV (9-5 MMA, 0-0 European MMA) is making his promotional debut coming off a Unanimous Decision victory in a two-round fight, over four months ago. Dimitrov is a flat-footed fighter who has zero head movement or footwork, and virtually no striking skills. However, he does possess power in his overhand-right, which is the only punch he has any faith in and depends on. Although a very strong man, Dimitrov is not a talented mixed martial artist, by any means. His striking is very poor, but his grappling skills are decent. He works respectable takedowns and has an okay top game. While his offensive grappling is mediocre at best, his defensive grappling is not very good; his submission defense is just bad. Dimitrov will be dropping from middleweight to the welterweight division for this match-up. His cardio isn’t great, as is, so I expect it to be worse going into this match-up. ANDREAS STAHL (8-0 MMA, 0-0 European MMA) is an undefeated welterweight making his promotional debut and looks to me as one of the more talented fighters featured on the European MMA 6 fight card. Stahl has solid wrestlilng skills. He works great takedowns and has a nice ground and pound attack. He is skilled on the feet, as well. The 26-year old works well on the feet, throwing powerful punches and putting together some nice combinations. He has a nice jab he likes to throw out there, as well. He regularly knocks opponents down with strikes, but doesn’t often finish. He is an aggressive fighter who likes to put the pressure on and doesn’t stop. The Swede has a good chin, thus the ability to take some serious punishment. He is a very tough fighter who doesn’t have much of an offensive submission game but his submission defense seems to be on point. Stahl has great takedown defense, decent footwork, and solid striking defense. He is also a well-conditioned fighter, so I expect him to be able to go hard for fifteen minutes, should the fight go the distance. Fight Prediction: Stahl will wear Dimitrov out, wherever the fight goes. He will get the better of him on the feet and on the mat. Stahl is vastly superior in both the striking and wrestling departments. Only way Dimitrov wins this is if it’s fixed. If you watch his fight vs Sergei Kabalinov, you will see that he won a fixed fight. The referee stopped the fight when his opponent was not even hurt. Most ridiculous, blatant stoppage and obvious fix I’ve ever seen.
