Bet: Robert Whittaker (+190)
This is a fade on Chimaev and a value bet on Whittaker. Whittaker is the much better fighter here. While the wrestling is a concern in this matchup as Chimaev is very strong in that background, if Whittaker can fend off the takedowns well enough this fight becomes very interesting. In the standup Whittaker can absolutely have his way with Chimaev.
There are concerns with Chimaev – most notable ones are his lack of staying active, the major cardio concerns, and the fact that he is facing one of the very best at 185. If Chimaev gasses out too quickly in this five round matchup expect a nightmare scenario for the Russian favorite here. Whittaker is relentless and has a great pace as well so a finish for him is not out of the cards. I could see a late finish for Whittaker if Chimaev is gassed enough or a decision for Chimaev if the wrestling becomes too much for the Australian.
