Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Macau Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Macau, former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan faces off against former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo. Yan defeated Song Yadong in his last fight by decision, a win that snapped a surprising three-fight losing skid for the former champ. Although other bantamweights have passed Yan in the title picture, a win over Figueiredo would at least keep him close to the title hunt. As for Figueiredo, he has won all three of his fights since moving up to 135 lbs and he looks like a title contender in the weight class. Still, Yan is the mainstay at bantamweight and deserves to be the favorite in this fight.
- In the co-main event, we have top-ranked women’s strawweight Yan Xiaonan taking on rising star Tabatha Ricci. Yan was dominated by champion Weili Zhang in her last fight, a defeat that snapped a two-fight win streak for her. As for Ricci, she has won her last two fights and six of her last seven overall. It makes sense that Yan is the favorite here, but don’t be surprised if Ricci can make it competitive and potentially even pull of a surprise victory here.
