Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 73:
- This week’s Contender Series features five bouts, including a heavyweight matchup between Bailey Schoenfelder and Danylo Voievodkin in the main event. Schoenfelder recently won the CFFC vacant heavyweight title and enters this fight on DWCS with an unbeaten 5-0 record with five stoppage wins. He has looked terrific in his young MMA career and appears to be a promising young prospect. As for his opponent Voievodkin, he is a perfect 6-0 with all his wins coming by first-round stoppage. However, his level of competition has been very questionable, to say the least, and it’s difficult to say how good he really is. The oddsmakers clearly do not value the wins he has so far in his MMA career and he is a massive underdog in this one. Schoenfelder is a huge favorite to get the win, and by all accounts, he should do just that.
- We also have a welterweight bout between Vadim Kutsyi and Daniel Frunza. Kutsyi is riding a 10-fight win streak which includes a win over UFC fighter Ismail Naurdiev in his last outing. As for Frunz, he enters DWCS with two straight wins in LFA, so he has fought good competition as well. That being said, Kutsyi’s win streak is hard to ignore and he is a huge favorite to win this fight, which should see the winner earn a UFC deal.
