Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 97 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 97 features Gilbert Burns taking on Sean Brady in a five-round welterweight bout. Burns is coming off a knockout loss to Jack Della Maddalena earlier this year and he has lost two straight fights, with his last win coming back last April against Jorge Masvidal. As for Brady, he submitted Kelvin Gastelum in his last fight, which was his first win since a surprisingly (at the time) TKO defeat to Belal Muhammad. This looks like a close matchup between two of the best welterweight fighters in the world. Given his youth advantage and having taken less damage in his career, you have to lean toward Brady here, but it is certainly a close fight.
- Also on the card is a women’s flyweight bout between Natalia Silva and Jessica Andrade. Silva is a perfect 5-0 in the UFC and she continues to move closer to the title shot at 125 lbs. As for Andrade, she is coming off two straight wins, snapping a three-fight losing skid in the process. While Andrade is the best fighter who Silva has fought yet, it’s hard not to lean toward Silva in this matchup.
