Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 171:
- The main event of Cage Warriors 171 is a lightweight bout between Chris Bungard and Dumitru Girlean. Bungard previously fought in Bellator and is 2-1 in his most current stint in CWFC. He won his last fight by submission to earn a main event slot on this card. As for Girlean, he is also 2-1 in CWFC and he, too, is coming off a submission win in his last fight. This should be a fun fight between two lightweights who go for the finish. The oddsmakers have Bungard labeled as the betting favorite, but the opening odds are very close for this fight.
- In the co-main event, we have bantamweights Reece McEwan and Cameron Else, the former UFC fighter. McEwan lost his last fight by decision but overall he has a solid 3-1 record in CWFC. As for Else, he is competing for the first time since being released by the UFC two years ago following two losses in the world’s biggest MMA league. Else has fought four times previously for CWFC, going 2-2 overall. This should be a good fight but the bookies have McEwan as the betting favorite here, likely because he has been more active as of late.
