Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 87 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 87 features heavyweights Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Shamil Gaziev. Rozenstruik has been a top-15 heavyweight for several years now, but he has lost three of his last four bouts overall, including a one-sided submission defeat to Jailton Almeida his last time out. As for Gaziev, he made a big impression in his UFC debut last year when he knocked out Martin Buday in spectacular fashion. Even though Rozenstruik has far more UFC experience, considering how good Gaziev looked in his UFC debut, he is the favorite here.
- As for the co-main event, we have light heavyweights Tyson Pedro and Vitor Petrino. Pedro knocked out Anton Turkalj in his last fight in what was an incredible bounceback win for him after losing a decision to Modestas Bukauskas before that. As for Petrino, he is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC and actually knocked out Bukauskas in his last fight. Once again, even though Pedro has more UFC experience, he is the betting underdog in this fight to the favorite Petrino, who has looked amazing in the UFC so far and who looks like he could be someone who is a top-15 light heavyweight very soon in his career.
