Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Austin Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Austin is a five-round lightweight bout between Arman Tsarukyan and Beneil Dariush. Tsarukyan is coming off two wins over Joaquim Silva and Damir Ismagulov, while Darish was brutally knocked out by Charles Oliveira in his last outing. Although Dariush has been one of the best lightweights in the world for many years, it does feel like Tsarukyan is the fighter who is more in his prime right now. With Tsarukyan losing to Mateusz Gamrot and Dariush beating Gamrot, some might take a dog shot here on Dariush due to MMA math.
- The co-main event features Bobby Green against Jalin Turner, who is taking this fight on short notice for the injured Dan Hooker. Green has been red-hot as of late, knocking out Grant Dawson in a massive upset in his last fight and submitting Tony Ferguson before that. As for Turner, he is coming off two split-decision losses to Hooker and Gamrot. This should be a really good fight between two talented lightweights. Despite coming into this bout on short notice, Turner opened up as the favorite, likely due to his youth and size advantages here in this spot.
