Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 63:
- In heavyweight action, we have Shamil Gaziev taking on Greg Velasco. Gaziev is a perfect 10-0 as a pro and he is coming off a knockout win over former UFC fighter Darko Stosic in his last outing. All but one of his victories as a pro have come by stoppage, so clearly he is an extremely dangerous fighter. As for Velasco, he is the CFFC heavyweight champion and he is also undefeated in his MMA career with a perfect 6-0 record. While Velasco has looked good in CFFC, Gaziev seems like the more dangerous fighter and he is the clear favorite here.
- Also on the card is a lightweight bout between Jacobi Jones and Daniel Allen. Jones has fought his entire career under the LFA banner and he enters this fight having won his last three bouts in a row. As for Allen, he is a perfect 4-0 as a pro and he has been looking great as of late. Overall, it’s another excellent matchup that pits two solid prospects against one another in the DWCS cage.
- This season of DWCS has been very intriguing to watch so far. There have been quite a few upsets, and fans can expect more of them this week. Look for UFC president Dana White to once again sign any fighter who gets a finish, too.
