Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL 2023: Week 9:
- The lightweight semifinals kick off with Shane Burgos taking on Clay Collard. Since signing with the PFL, Burgos is 1-1 and he only made it into the playoffs due to Natan Schulte being removed for allegedly not giving an honest effort in his fight against Raush Manfio. As for Collard, he has won both of his fights so far in the PFL this season, which includes a knockout win over Stevie Ray in his last fight. Both Burgos and Collard are generally known as strikers, but as of late, Burgos has turned into more of a grappler. Although Burgos is the betting favorite in this fight, Collard has honestly looked better lately and he’s absolutely a live dog.
- Also on the card is a lightweight semifinal between Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Bruno Miranda. OAM won the PFL’s 155 lbs tournament last season and he is 2-0 so far this season, including a brutal KO win over Anthony Romero in his last fight. He has won his last eight fights in a row and has been looking amazing. As for Miranda, he has won his last seven fights in a row including three fights in PFL this season. While he’s done well, OAM is the clear favorite here.
