Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 163:
- The main event of LFA 163 sees the promotion’s vacant 145 lbs title on the line between Eli Johns and Javier Garcia. Johns, who is the brother of UFC fighter Miles Johns, is coming off two straight wins and he has an overall record of 7-2 record in the Octagon. Johns overall has looked fantastic in LFA and if he can get the belt here, there is certainly a chance the UFC might sign him. As for Garcia, he has won his last two fights in a row and he has a 4-2 record in LFA. Both fighters are very talented and both men should put on a great title fight for the fans. However, Johns has had more success in LFA, and that should give him the edge here.
- In the co-main event, we have William Starks against Johnny Hopper at lightweight. Starks has a 4-1 overall record in LFA, which includes a win over UFC fighter Slava Borshchev. As for Hopper, he is making his LFA debut here following a loss in his last fight. Overall, Starks has fought much better competition and he has been on more of a roll as of late. You have to favor Starks to get the win in this fight, and it likely won’t go the distance.
