Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 157:
- The main event of Cage Warriors 157 sees the promotion’s middleweight title on the line between James Webb and Mick Stanton, the champion. Webb has fought nearly his entire career in CWFC and he is coming off of a decision win in his last fight. As for Stanton, he is coming off of a decision win over Will Currie where he captured the promotion’s vacant 185 lbs title. Given that Stanton is the champion, it was a bit surprising to see him open up as the underdog here. That being said, the line has flipped and Stanton is now the rightful favorite.
- Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Jordan Vucenic and Brice Picaud. Vucenic is a long-time CWFC stalwart who is coming off of a submission win in his last fight. As for Picaud, he is coming off of four straight wins, though in other promotions. Given that Vucenic is a longtime staple of the CWFC featherweight division, it makes sense that he is the favorite to win this fight, even despite Picaud doing very well as of late in his own MMA career.
