Combate Americas recently held its 55th event in Mexicali, Mexico on Friday. Here are the betting results of the fights, as explained by MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas.
Rafa Garcia opened -130 and closed -200
Humberto Bandanay opened +100 and closed +170
The sportsbooks lost money because the public came in on the Combate champion and he came through for them. This was Garcia’s toughest test to date and he put the pressure on Bandenay from the opening bell. Bandenay didn’t wake up until the second round and by the time he picked up the pace, it was too late as Garcia won the three-round decision.
Edgar Chairez opened -200 and closed -145
David Macias Ruiz opened +150 and closed +125
The public came in on Ruiz, but Chairez was the superior fighter. Chairez came out strong, winning the first round. Ruiz was the aggressor in round two but Chairez hurt Ruiz then followed him to the canvas and submitted him. The sportsbooks made a decent profit on this fight.
Santiago Monreal opened +145 and closed +140
Ernesto Ibarra opened -185 and closed -170
The public came in slightly on the dog, but was mostly two-way action. It was a competitive fight, but Ibarra did enough to win at least two of the three rounds. The sportsbooks profited small here.
Laura Huizar opened -200 and closed -140
Ana Palacios opened +150 and closed +120
The public came in and bet the dog early, but by fight time, money came back in on Huizar. Huizar started strong on the feet, but Palacios took her down late in the first round then took her down in the second and got a submission finish. The sportsbooks lost small because of the late action on Huizar.
Saul Cabrera opened +190 and closed +215
Ramiro Jimenez opened -260 and closed -270
Jimenez came out on fire, caught Cabrera early and steamrolled him. The sportsbooks broke even due to the two-way action.
Overall, the sportsbooks either took a small loss or pushed for Combate Americas 55. The next Combate event is February 28 in Fresno.
