UFC Fight Night 139 takes place Saturday, November 10 at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The offshore sportsbooks recently opened up the betting odds for the full card, and here they are.

And here are my initial thoughts on the UFC Fight Night 139 opening odds:
– I was shocked how high the opening line was in the Jung vs. Rodriguez fight. I know Rodriguez took the fight on short notice filling in for Frankie Edgar, but still. Those opening odds are kind of ridiculous. I think Rodriguez is a very quality fighter and even despite his TKO loss to Edgar I still think he’s a top prospect at 145lbs. Yes, Rodriguez is coming off of a huge layoff, but so is Jung. At the opening odds it’s a no brainer to take Rodriguez, who I thought would have been slightly favored.
– I was also surprised that Cerrone opened up as a slight favorite over Perry. I know Cerrone has more experience and is more well-rounded, but his chin clearly has seen better days and Perry has the KO power to knock anyone’s lights out. It’s another situation where I thought Perry would open as the favorite, so to see him as a small underdog at the opener gives him some value.
– Another underdog who looks to be undervalued in Trizano, the TUF 27 winner who takes on Pena in a bit of a grudge match. I like Pena and believe he has a lot of potential to be popular in the UFC due to his personality and fighting style, but it’s just kind of strange to me that the guy who actually won the show is such a big dog in this matchup. I definitely think at these opening odds there’s value on the dog Trizano.
– One fight the oddsmakers did line correctly was Ramos vs. Gunther. That fight is just a huge mismatch. Ramos is one of the top submission wizards in the UFC right now while Gunther is more-or-less a replacement level fighter. This one should be a walk in the park for Ramos, and I would be looking at the prop on him winning the fight by submission. Similarly, Barber vs. Cifers looks like a mismatch as this is a fight Barber should dominate over a Zuffa newcomer who is fighting on very short notice.
– There are a number of closely-lined bouts lower on the card featuring a number of fighters with minimal UFC experience. I prefer betting on fighters who have a body of work at the UFC level to base their performances on, so for many of these early bouts I would recommend passing on a number of them unless you spot something you really like.
