The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in London, England last Saturday (March 18, 2017) for UFC Fight Night 107: Anderson vs. Manuwa. It was an interesting night of scraps that saw only four of 11 bouts end inside the distance, and with the action now in our rear view, let’s take a look at which competitors we may no longer see going to work inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK Daniel Omielanczuk Omielanczuk was bested by Timothy Johnson for the majority of three rounds and suffered a split-decision defeat, dropping him to a two-fight deficit inside the Octagon following a second-round submission loss to Stefan Struve his previous time out. After back-to-back losses, I would not be surprised to see Omienalczuk cut from the UFC’s heavyweight roster. However, I think it is more likely that he will get another fight considering how razor-thin the division is, and the fact that he was on a three-fight winning streak prior to his recent setback. Those three wins came after another two-fight losing streak the Pole endured, so it’s even more reason to believe that the promotion will give him another shot. I would say it is 70/30 that he remains in the UFC. Scott Askham Askham came up short in a split-decision call against fellow Brit and TUF Smashes runner-up Brad Scott, and he is also now on a two-fight losing streak in the UFC. Following consecutive defeats, I think there’s a fair chance that the promotion will release him from his contract. But again, I lean towards them giving Askham another chance, likely on a future card in Europe. I think it is 60/40 as to whether we will see him back in action inside the Octagon, but should he receive his walking papers, I would not be him surprised to work his way back for a second stint with the promotion, especially because he is only 28 years of age.
