Anderson SilvaUFC 208: Holm vs De Randamie Date: February 11, 2017 Arena: Barclays Center City: Brooklyn, NY The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Brooklyn, NY for the first time in promotional history with UFC 208: Holm vs De Randamie, which will crown the UFC’s inaugral women’s featherweight champion. The 12-fight card is scheduled to get started with UFC Fight Pass prelims at 6:30pm ET. Preliminary action will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm and the Pay Per View main card will kick off at 10pm. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available to you at Several Bookmakers. My Fights to AVOID betting are: Middleweight bout: Anderson Silva (+125) vs Derek Brunson (-145) Gabe’s Thoughts: This fight is especially hard to get a read on because you just don’t know which Derek Brunson is going to show up and what he’s going to do. If he fights this fight the same way he approached his last bout against Robert Whitaker, the result is likely going to be the same; he is going to be on the losing end of a vicious knockout. I think what he needs to do to this fight is use his wrestling. If Greg Jackson was in his corner, I believe that would be his gameplan, but I am not sure if he will be. I don’t know if Brunson is training with Jackson or not anymore, I know he hasn’t spend time in Albuquerque for this bout, as he has his own gym now. I think this fight comes down to Brunson’s fight IQ, and I can’t trust it enough to back him with my wallet. This is going to have to be a fight I avoid at the sportsbook this Saturday night. Gabe’s Call: Brunson by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Heavyweight bout: Marcin Tybura (-185) vs Justin Willis (+160) Gabe’s Thoughts: Willis is making his UFC debut on very short notice for this contest and will be looking to make waves in the UFC’s heavyweight division with an impressive victory over Tybura. However, he will likely have one round to win this fight, as his cardio is a major question mark, especially on such short notice. Tybura is the rightful favorite in this spot and most people seem to be backing him, and I cannot fault them for it, but for me, this has to be a fight to skip, so it will be avoided at the sportsbook this weekend. Gabe’s Call: Willis by T/KO (punches, 1:49 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID NOTE: Willis was deemed unfit to fight by UFC doctors and has been pulled from the card prior to this morning’s weigh-ins.
