Mirsad Bektic vs. Darren Elkins added to UFC 209 fight card The seventh UFC event of 2017 and fifth to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will include an intriguing featherweight matchup between unbeaten Mirsad Bektic (11-0) and veteran Darren Elkins (21-5) at UFC 209 on March 4th, as MMAJunkie reported on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Bosnian-American Bektic has finished his last two opponents inside the Octagon, the last being Russell Doane and coming via first-round rear-naked choke submission at UFC 204 last October 8th. After improving to 4-0 in the organization following his latest victory, Bektic is ranked as the No. 13 145-pounder by the UFC while the 32-year-old Elkins is one spot ahead of him at No. 12. Elkins has won three in a row since suffering a unanimous-decision loss to Hacran Dias at UFC Fight Night 58 more than two years ago in Brazil. He fought just once in 2015 and twice in 2016, with each of his last seven fights going to the judges’ scorecards dating back to 2013. Todd Duffee also makes his return at UFC 209 against Mark Godbeer According to MMAJunkie, a second heavyweight matchup has been added to the UFC 209 card too, with Todd Duffee (9-3) meeting Englishman Mark Godbeer (11-3). Duffee and Godbeer are both coming off losses, the latter falling to Justin Ledet by first-round RNC submission at UFC Fight Night 99 last November 19th in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Duffee has not fought Frank Mir dropped him with a left hook in the first round in San Diego at UFC Fight Night 71 back on July 15, 2015. The 31-year-old took some time off to work on his business degree at the University of Georgia and still holds the UFC record for fastest knockout in heavyweight history (seven seconds versus Tim Hague at UFC 102). He followed that up with consecutive losses to Mike Russow and Alistair Overeem (41-15, 1 No-Contest), who will reportedly be fighting Mark Hunt (12-10-1, 1 NC) on the UFC 209 card as well.
