MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 165 lightweight Brandon Girtz as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout this Saturday night (November 19, 2016) against Adam Piccolotti at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
Girtz has made a living on the ground, but he feels like mixing things up heading into this bout against a fighter with a strong submission game:
“I think Adam [Piccolotti]’s a great competitor, but he’s a competitor on the ground. That’s what I’ve seen. I’ve watched his last two Bellator fights and I see he’s gotten better on the feet but nothing really there to show me that his feet are anything to be scared of. It’s hit jiu-jitsu game is what he has. I’ve seen a lot of open shots he takes just to bring someone to the ground. It looks to me like he doesn’t want to stay on the feet. The ground is where he’s comfortable. That’s where he likes to be. I love to show what I have in my hands. I feel I have some of the heaviest hands in the division and I want to show that.”
