RFA middleweight champion Gerald Meerschaert signs with UFC, fights Joe Gigliotti at UFC Albany Sources close to www.MMAOddsBreaker.com have confirmed that RFA middleweight champion Gerald Meerschaert has signed with the UFC. In addition, sources have confirmed that the 28-year-old will replace Oluwale Bamgbose (who was pulled from the card due to injury) against Joseph Gigliotti, December 9th at UFC Fight Night 102 in Albany, NY. Meerschaert (24-8) heads into his UFC debut on a five-fight win streak and recently captured the vacant RFA middleweight title with a first-round submission victory over Chase Waldon at RFA 45 last month. Of his 24 career wins, 22 have come by way of stoppage (five knockouts and 17 submissions). The Roufusport product becomes the 53rd fighter from RFA to be signed to the UFC. Gigliotti (7-1) is also a former RFA middleweight and came up short in his UFC debut against Trevor Smith, losing via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 92 back in August. UFC Fight Night 102 takes place at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York on December 9th.
