The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in New York City for the first time in promotional history with UFC 205: Alvarez vs McGregor. After the entertaining night of fights, let’s take a look at some potential matchups featuring a few of the competitors from the evening… Joanna Jędrzejczyk vs. Jessica Andrade JJ successfully defended her UFC strawweight title against Karolina Kowalkiewicz, defeating her via unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards following three entertaining rounds of action that nearly saw the challenger end the fight. For her next title defense, I would like to see her take on Brazil’s Jessica Andrade, who is 2-0 since dropping down from 135 pounds to the 115-pound division. Yoel Romero vs. Michael Bisping Romero defeated former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman via third-round knockout and now rides an impressive eight-fight winning streak inside the Octagon, cementing his satus as the No. 1 contender for the champion Bisping’s title belt. The is the fight that needs to happen next, and I would like to see it booked as quickly as possible. Rafael Natal vs. Vitor Belfort Natal lost via first-round TKO against Tim Boetsch and is now on a two-fight losing streak inside the Octagon. For his next outing, where he will have his back against the wall, I would like to see him take on the veteran Belfort. This would be a Brazilian vs. Brazilian matchup in the UFC’s 185-pound division that I would be interested in. Vicente Luque vs. Peter Sobotta Luque scored a first-round knockout of Roufusport product Belal Muhammad and now enjoys a four-fight winning streak inside the Octagon, with two knockouts and two submissions. He keeps adding highlight after highlight to his reel, and for his next outing inside the Octagon, I would like to see him take on Sobotta, who is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Nicolas Dalby. I think this would make for an excellent matchup in the UFC’s welterweight division and want to see it booked for a future fight card.
