The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in Manchester, England for UFC 204: Bisping vs Henerson II. The solid night of action saw nine of 11 bouts end inside the distance. Following the night of scraps in Manchester, let’s take a look at which of last Saturday night’s competitors we may no longer see in action inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK Russell Doane Doane has now lost four fights in a row and will likely be released from the promotion after his performance at UFC 204 in Manchester, where he was defeated by Mirsad Bektic via first-round rear naked choke submission. The Hawaiian took the bout on several days notice, and my guess is that he was going to be receiving his walking papers following his loss to Pedro Munhoz a couple months ago, but they gave him one last chance. He likely saw this as an opportunity to collect another payceck before he heads back to the regional circuit, and that is what I expect to happen. Lukasz Sajewski Sajewski stepped up on short notice for an injured Reza Madadi to take on promotonal newcomer Marc Diakiese and lost the bout via second round TKO. The short notice nature of the bout cost the Pole, as he was winning until he ran out of gas. The loss puts him at a three-fight defecit inside the Octagon, and he is winless in three Octagon appearances. He had been watching his weight since his loss to Gilbert Burns a couple months back and was planning on making his featherweight debut. When the call came for the short-notice bout, he remained at 155 pounds. Following the loss, I think there is a slight chance that the UFC will give him a shot at 145 pounds anyway, but I think it is more likely they will release him from the promotion.
