The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is headed back to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, July 11th for potentially the biggest event in promotional history, UFC 189: Aldo vs McGregor. The stacked card will feature 11 bouts in entirety, including two title fights. Main card action is set to get underway at 10pm ET on Pay Per View, with a four fight preliminary card preceding it at 8pm ET on FOX Sports 1 and a pair of scraps beforehand on UFC Fight Pass at 7pm ET. The next bout on the card is a welterweight barn-burner in the form of TUF: Season 2 veteran Mike “Quick” Swick vs TriStar’s Alex Garcia. This is another battle that will likely allow the judges’ at Octagon-side to get a break, as both men will be looking for the finish from the opening bell. Swick is 1-3 in his last four outings and has not seen action in over two years. Training out of AKA Thailand, he hopes to get back on track on July 11th. Ring rust may play a factor with the veteran, as well as with Garcia, who has been out of action for nearly a year, after dropping a unanimous decision to Neil Magny. “Quick” opened as a +180 betting underdog in this 170-pound affair, with Garcia being favored to win at -260. The public has backed the TriStar Gym product, as current betting lines for the bout are +315/-380. Staying in the welterweight division for the next bout of the evening, Ireland’s Cathal Pendred makes an immediate return to action following his UFC 188 unanimous decision win over Augosto Montano, which put him at 4-0 inside the Octagon. He will be aiming to make that 5-0 against John “Doomsday” Howard, who was left without an opponent when Brandon Thatch was moved up to the main card to face Gunnar Nelson when Nelson’s original opponent John Hathaway withdrew from the contest due to injury. It was the Irishman who opened as the favorite in this bout at -190, with the return on the veteran Howard being +150. The public has since backed the dog, tightening betting lines to their current -140/+120. Keeping things at 170-pounds for UFC 189’s FOX Spors 2 preliminary card headliner, Matt “The Immortal” Brown will look to get back into the win column by putting a halt to Tim “Dirty Bird” Means’ four-fight winning streak.
