New Odds for Future Ronda Rousey bouts Released via 5Dimes (Tate and Cyborg)

Ronda RouseyRonda Rousey has been all the rage in the last few days. The undefeated former Olympic bronze medal-winning judoka put a stamp on her most recent UFC 190 title defense by knocking out challenger Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds. With the victory, Rousey moves to 12-0 overall and has successfully defended her UFC and Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title a combined seven times. Rousey wants to fight again quickly and it’s rumored she’ll be competing this upcoming December in potentially one of the biggest UFC fight cards of all time alongside the much-hyped Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor featherweight title bout. Rousey’s next opponent will be a trilogy match against Miesha Tate, who has won four straight and earned a shot by defeating Jessica Eye in her last bout. The ease of Rousey’s title defenses has also continued the surge of interest in a fight against Cris “Cyborg” Justino, who has long been the most dominant featherweight fighter in women’s history. The big issue with Cyborg is whether or not she could compete at 135 pounds due to her large, muscular frame. So just in case Justino could never make the 135 pound limit, MMAOddsmaker Nick Kalikas created betting lines for a hypothetical future Rousey/Cyborg bout at both 135 and 140 pounds. He also made a line for the upcoming trilogy bout for Rousey vs Tate 3. Here are Nick’s thoughts on the lines:

“Over half of Ronda Rousey’s career fight time has been against Miesha Tate. Even though I’m opening Rousey as a heavy favorite over Tate, I feel Tate has a better shot against Rousey than anyone else currently in the UFC women’s bantamweight division. Tate is the only fighter to make it out of the first round against Rousey and she did showcase some improved striking power in her last fight against Jessica Eye. That being said, Rousey has continued to evolve and expand her lead over every woman at 135 pounds. She can beat anyone anywhere whether striking or on the ground. In regards to a future bout against Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino, she is perceived as the only true threat to Rousey’s reign. Cyborg has been just as dominant in the women’s 145 pound division as Rousey has at 135. This is more of your classic striker vs grappler match-up despite Rousey’s improvements on the feet. Due to concerns about whether or not Cyborg could make the 135 pound limit, I’m opening lines at both 135 and at a 140 pound catchweight. Cyborg’s odds obviously improve if she doesn’t have to cut as much weight. Regardless of what weight they fight at, I feel this bout is destined to happen because there’s just too much money to be made for it to never take place.”
