UFC Fight Night 127: Werdum vs. Volkov
Date: March 17
Arena: O2 Arena
City: London, England

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back in London, England this Saturday night with UFC Fight Night 127: Werdum vs. Volkov, and these are my fights to avoid betting at the sportsbook come fight night…

Bantamweight bout: Tom Duquesnoy (-350) vs. Terrion Ware (+290)

Gabe’s Thoughts: Both 135 pounders will be looking to get into the win column in this contest, but it is Ware who has his back against the wall, as he is coming off back to back losses and is winless inside the Octagon. At the current odds, I believe this is a dog or pass situation, and I see value in Ware at +290. I think this fight is closer than the odds suggest, and I could see Ware pulling this off inside the distance or on the judges’ scorecards. I actually do think he has a decent chance of stopping Duquesnoy with his hands. I agree with Duqeusnoy with the favorite, however not by this much. I cannot fault anybody for playing Ware at this price, as I believe it is the right side, as far as a bet is concerned, but for me, this is going to have to be a fight I pass betting on this weekend. Ware is the superior boxer, but I think Duequesnoy is the overall superior striker and has more weapons in his arsenal. Over the course of three rounds, I favor the Frenchman to Ware for a closely contested unanimous decision victory.

Gabe’s Call: Duquesnoy by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID

Featherweight bout: Hakeem Dowadu (-340) vs. Danny Henry (+280)

Gabe’s Thoughts: Dowadu is making his promotional debut against Henry, who looks to remain unbeaten inside the Octagon following a unanimous decision win in his UFC debut against Daniel Teymur last July. He was the underdog there and he’s the underdog here again, and I think rightfully so. While I think he should be favored to win, I don’t quite agree with his current asking prie of -340. At the current odds, I see this 145 pound contest as a dog or pass situation and I have ultimately opted to take a pass on playing the dog. At these odds, I can’t fault anybody for taking a stab at Henry, though I am expecting Dowadu to have an impressive UFC debut here, so I am going to stay away from this one.

Gabe’s Call: Dowadu by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
