LFA 36 takes place at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California, on Friday (Mar. 23, 2018) at 9pm ET live on AXS TV. In the main event, bantamweight champion Ricky Simon defends his title for the first time against Vinicius Zani.
Simon (11-1) captured the vacant LFA bantamweight title (left by Leandro Higo when he signed with Bellator) in his last fight when he came away with a unanimous decision victory over UFC veteran Chico Camus at LFA 29 in December. The 25-year-old heads into this championship bout on a four fight win streak with three of those victories coming by decision. Zani (11-4) is also riding a four-fight win streak and has won eight of his last nine fights, with the lone loss coming against Thomas Almeida back in Mar. 2014. The 30-year-old has only fought three times since 2016.

In the co-main event, Jamall Emmers faces off with late replacement Guilherme Faria in a featherweight matchup. Guilherme Faria was initially slated to fight Emmers before he was pulled off the card. Emmers (12-3) was slated to face Matt Besstte in the main event of CES 48 last month, however that matchup was scrapped when “The Mangler” was signed to the UFC. The 28-year-old heads into this fight on a three-fight win streak and boasts wins over current UFC fighters Cory Sandhagen and Alex Hernandez. Faria (15-6) will be making his LFA debut and hasn’t competed since Oct. 2016. The 26-year-old is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jason Soares at Fight Time 33 which snapped his five-fight win streak.
