MMA Odds and Ends for Wednesday: Lyoto Machida vs Vitor Belfort booked for UFC 224

Machida vs Belfort at UFC 224

UFC's next pay-per-view in Rio just got a major attraction as a pair of former champions will duke it out for the first time when Lyoto Machida battles Vitor Belfort. The bout was announced by the promotion via Twitter. Machida (23-8) most recently won a close decision victory in a Fight Night main event against Eryk Anders, halting a 3-fight losing streak. Belfort (26-13, 1 no contest) had a three-fight losing streak halted of his own recently when he won a decision against Nate Marquardt this past June.

Look for Machida to open as a betting favorite in this contest. He may have lost a step, but he seems like he has a bit more left in the tank than Belfort.
