MMA Odds and Ends for Friday: Jeremy Stephens vs Josh Emmett headlines UFC on Fox 28

Jeremy Stephens vs Josh Emmett at UFC on Fox 28

UFC Orlando has a main event. The Orlando Sentinal broke the news that featherweights Jeremy Stephens and Josh Emmett will throw down at UFC on Fox 28 on February 24th. Stephens (27-14) recently knocked out Doo Ho Choi in the main event of UFC Fight Night 124 last weekend while Emmett scored the biggest victory of his career with a knockout of Ricardo Lamas this past December. Both men are looking to enter contender status and a victory in the main event should earn either winner a top five opponent.

I would expect Stephens to open as a slight favorite due to his veteran status and greater name recognition, although Emmett should be able to give him a solid scrap due to his well-roundedness.

Here's an updated look at the fight card:

145 lbs.: Josh Emmett vs. Jeremy Stephens
155 lbs.: Gilbert Burns vs. Olivier Aubin-Mercier
170 lbs.: Ben Saunders vs. Alan Jouban
115 lbs.: Jéssica Andrade vs. Tecia Torres
185 lbs.: David Branch vs. TBA
