Cage Warriors 89 takes place at Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Belgium Saturday (Nov 25, 2017) at 1 p.m. (ET). A pair of UFC veterans square off in the main event as Karl Amoussou defends his Cage Warriors welterweight title against Dominique Steele.
Amoussou (24-7-2) hasn’t lost a fight since he left Bellator in 2014 and is currently riding a seven-fight win streak. The 31-year-old captured the vacant Cage Warriors welterweight title in his last bout when he knocked out Matt Inman in the first-round at Cage Warriors 80 in February. Steele (15-9) was released from the UFC earlier this year following three-straight losses. He’s coming off a unanimous decision win over Portland Pringle III in a middleweight contest at Colosseum Combat 41 in October.
The co-main event features Mauro Cerilli squaring off against Nills van Noord for the vacant heavyweight championship. Cerlli (10-2) heads into this matchup on a three-fight win streak, including a unanimous decision win over Łukasz Parobiec at Magnum FC 2. Van Noord (17-8-2) heads into his promotional debut off two-straight wins.
Also on the card is former UFC bantamweight Cindy Dandois who battles Kerry Hughes. Dandois (8-3) hasn’t competed since her lone appearance in the UFC when she suffered a unanimous decision setback to Alexis Davis at UFC Fight Night 108. The loss snapped the 33-year-old’s three-fight win streak, which included a victory over Megan Anderson at Invicta FC 14. Hughes (3-2) is coming off a first-round TKO setback to Zarah Fairn Dos Santos at British Challenge MMA 18 in February.
UFC veteran John Maguire is also in action as he battles Tommy Depret. Maguire (25-9) has won six of his last seven fights including a second-round submission win over Shah Hussain at Rise of Champions 4 in September. The 34-year-old has finished five of his last seven opponents. Depret (12-5) will be making his Cage Warriors debut and competes for the first time since March 2015.
