UFC 217 Closing Odds and Betting Results

UFC 217 took place Saturday, November 4, 2017 in New York City. The card was headlined by a middleweight title bout between champion Michael Bisping and former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.

Favorites that Won

Stephen Thompson did what he does best and that’s out strike his opponent (Jorge Masvidal) to earn a decision victory. Thompson closed -190 while Masvidal closed +165.

Paulo Costa battered former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks to win by second round stoppage. Costa closed -365. Hendricks closed +305.

Likely down on the scorecards, Ovince St. Preux landed a flush head kick in the third round to put Corey Anderson away in the third round. St. Preux closed -175 with the return on Anderson +155. 

Curtis Blaydes beat up Oleksiy Oliynyk on the feet and on the ground. When the doctor stopped the fight after an illegal kick in the second round, there was a chance this fight would be called a no contest. However, the referee ruled the kick did not generate damage and therefore Blaydes was awarded the victory. Blaydes closed -300 while Oliynyk closed +250.

In a close contest in the third round, Ricardo Ramos landed a fantastic spinning elbow that floored his opponent Aiemann Zahabi to give the Brazilian a knockout victory. Ramos closed -190 with the return on Zahabi +165.

Underdogs that Won

In a back and forth match, Georges St. Pierre rocked Michael Bisping in the third round following up with a rear naked choke to become the middleweight champion. St. Pierre closed +100 while Bisping closed -120.

After being saved by the bell in the opening round, TJ Dillashaw came out in the second round and knocked out Cody Garbrandt in the second round to become the UFC Bantamweight Champion for the second time. Dillashaw closed +175 with the return on Garbrandt -210. 

In perhaps the upset of the year, Rose Namajunas stunned female pound for pound queen Joanna Jedrzjeczyk by first round knockout to win the strawweight championship. Namajunas closed +500. While the champion closed -700 in defeat. 

James Vick effectively used his range limiting the striking of Joe Duffy. In the second round, he began to take over the fight and caught Vick in the final seconds to earn the biggest win of his career. Vick closed +135 while Duffy closed -155.

Walt Harris was dominating Mark Godbeer, but landed an illegal kick which forced the referee to step in and disqualify Harris as Godbeer was unable to continue. Godbeer at closing odds of +310 was awarded the winner. Harris closed -370.

With the fight a round a piece heading into the third round, Randy Brown landed an upper cut on Mickey Gall that changed the complexion of the fight which allowed Brown to take the fight to the mat and dominate round three to win a division. Brown closed +105. Gall closed -125.
