MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Sam Alvey now faces Ramazan Emeev at next week’s UFC-Gdansk event

Sam Alvey will replaced an injured Trevor Smith next week against Ramazan Emeev at UFC Fight Night 118 at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. UFC officials annouced the matchup Wednesday.

Alvey (31-9) has won five of his last six fights including a split decision win over Rashad Evans at UFC Fight Night 114. “Smilin'” has gone the distance in his last four fights. Emeev (15-3) heads into this matchup on a four-fight win streak and his 12-1 in his last 13 fights. The M1 veteran will be making his promotioanl debut. Here’s an updated look at the card.

Bryan Caraway vs. Luke Sanders set for UFC Fresno

ESPN recently announced that Bryan Caraway will face Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night Fresno on Dec. 9.

Caraway (21-7) hasn’t competed since a split decision win over Aljamain Sterling at UFC Fight Night 88 in May 2016. The 33-year-old was slated to face Jimmie Rivera earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 103 however an injury pulled him off the card. Caraway is 4-1 in his last five fights. Sanders (11-1) was set to face Felipe Arantes last month at UFC Fight Night 116 however an illness forced the Brazilian fighter off the card. The MMA Lab standout is coming off the first loss of his career to Iuri Alcântara at UFC 209.
