MMA Odds and Ends for Friday: Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje slated for UFC 218

Eddie Alvarez’s coach Mark Henry announced on Instagram that the former UFC lightweight champion will face Justin Gaethje at UFC 218 on Dec. 2 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Alvarez (28-5) last fought in May where he went to a “No Contest” with Dustin Poirier due to an illegal knee at UFC 211. The 33-year-old will be looking for his first win since July 2016. Gaethje (18-0) is coming off a “Fight of the Year” victory over Michael Johnson at The Ultimate Fighter Season 25 finale in July. The Colorado natve has only gone the distance twice in his 18-fight career. Here’s an updated look at the card.
