Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1 Closing Odds and Betting Results

The first-ever Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series Event took place this past Tuesday (July 11, 2017). The card was headlined by a featherweight bout between former Titan Champion Kurt Holobaugh and former CES Champion Matt Bessette.  Closing odds are courtesy of Several Bookmakers.

Favorites that Won

In the main event of the evening, Kurt Holobaugh put on a striking display, knocking out veteran Matt Bessette in the first round to earn a multi-fight UFC contract. Holobaugh closed as the largest favorite on the card at -525 favorite while Bessette was a big +415 underdog defeat.

Boston Salmon fought a composed 15 minutes against volume-heavy Ricky Turcios to win a unanimous decision. With the impressive striking display, Salmon was given a UFC contract. Salmon closed as a -170 fave with Turcios a +150 underdog.

It took Charles Byrd a couple minutes to get into his fight with Jamie Pickett, but once he did, it was one-way traffic. Byrd secured an arm-triangle choke in the final seconds of the first round to get the win. Byrd closed as -145 chalk while Pickett was a +125 dog. 

In the opening contest of the night, Joby Sanchez was dropped in the first round and had to fend off submissions attempts by Manny Vazquez. Then in the final two rounds, Sanchez controlled Vazquez and dominated those exchanges to win a decision. Sanchez closed as a -140 favorite with Vazquez a +120 dog.

Underdogs that Won

Azunna Anyanwu landed a flush right hand which floored veteran Greg Rebello to give him the biggest win of his career. Anyanwu was the lone underdog to win, closing at +180 while Rebello was -220 in defeat.
