Matchup against Kailin Curran A battle of contrasting styles in The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale’s only matchup of women’s strawweights sees Hawaiian Kailin Curran welcome Jamie Moyle to the UFC. While Curran is the taller fighter, both fighters have a 65 inch. Curran has done well in her UFC career to take her opponents to the mat (over 3 takedowns per 15 minutes in the Octagon), however she’s done a really poor job at controlling opponents and has been really poor in transition. I think that’s going to be the key to the fight. Despite Curran having some solid physical gifts, she continues to put herself in poor situations. In particular, she’s very susceptible to being exposed to submissions in scrambling situations. Moyle has a very good rear naked choke and is very capable of finding the back. I think that’s the most likely result in this fight. I’ll be looking to play Moyle by submission once lines are released closer to fight day. UFC Ceiling Jamie Moyle has a solid approach to MMA with a brawling style on the feet and a solid wrestling game. She has a very good rear naked choke technique and can finish with ease when she gets to her opponent’s back. She still needs to make improvements on the feet as she can be beaten up by longer fighters who can land from range. I think she can win a fight or two in the UFC, but beyond that it’s difficult to see her beating the more athletic fighters in the weight class.
